Elections '09 v/s IPL '09

Well Elections '09 has been a great reality show and will continue until we get out next PM, IPL too has been nothing short of reality show of its own kind.

Let me try to compare the teams with the political parties of India

Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI)= Election Commission of India (EC)
Rajasthan Royals (led by Shane Warne)=Indian National Congress (Congress, led by Ma'am)
Chennai Super Kings (led by MSD)=Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP, led by Mr. Advani)
Kings XI Punjab (led by Yuvi)= BSP (led by Ma'am Maya)
Delhi Daredevils (led by Viru)= NCP (led by Mr. Sharad Pawar)
Mumbai Indians (led by the Little Master)= Samajwadi Party (ed by Mr. Mulayam Singh)
Kolkata Knight Riders (no leader)= CPM (led by Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechury, Buddha Babu)
Bangalore Royal Challengers (led by KP)= RJD (led by Mr. Lalu)
Deccan Chargers (led by Mr. Gilly)= AIADMK (led by Amma)

Well BCCI is strongly handling all the issues related to IPL, whether to host in India or outside, which country, financial issues etc. EC too is doing a fair job in handling Elections, covering up security issues, poll dates, marketing etc.

Rajasthan Royals has a foreign leader and so does Congress, but leadership wise both of them are doing great. Well managing the PM of the country is a tough job but she is doing great.

Chennai Super Kings has the strongest leader that world cricket has at the moment in the form of MSD, and so does BJP with Mr. Advani who is one of the most powerful leaders in India.

King's XI has Yuvi and BSP has Ma'am Maya, when both get going there is no one to stop them. Yuvi rocked with six sixes and Ma'am swept the UP polls, no wonder if she becomes the PM and Yuvi takes charge of Indian team after Dhoni.

Well Viru is playing his cards perfectly with the middle order and one of them rescues his team all the time. Mr. Pawar also playing his cards perfectly by hooking on to congress, third front and the fourth front. One of them will click and Mr. Pawar will be the winner. Same goes with Delhi team, if one of them clicks Viru wins.

Well I didn't wanted to compare the little master with anyone but had no other choice. And Samajwadi Party seems to be the best comparison. With Mulayam as a strong leader and having Amar Singh and new joinee Sanjay Dutt with all the cine stars in his side it is one of the most dangerous parties in India, which is capable of change the formation of the government. Sachin too has Jayasurya as a forte and Duminy as a new joinee and all the big names of cricket world in his side. This team is capable of changing the table of the IPL but I doubt if they can win the tournament.

This should be the most interesting of all. Well Knights has no leaders in their ranks or you can say they have multiple of them with no one knowing what they are doing. Same goes with CPM (Left), Mr Karat, Mr. Yechury, Buddhadev Babu are all capable of becoming captains but no one knows what is going on. Left has always been on the wrong side of the history, be it nuclear deal, reforms or anything so has been KKR, be it captaincy, coach or winning.

Bangalore has KP and RJD has Lalu, both of the teams has strong leaders but both of them not sure if they will win anything this time. Lalu has a tough competition from Nitish Babu which could derail his ambitions and so does KP from KKR for the last position of IPL teams :).

Deccan Chargers is coming back strongly in IPL II and this elections might see Amma come back strongly and has a major role in Government formation. Deccan can be one of the finalist and AIADMK can be one of the final political parties to form the coalition to form the Government. If Mr. Gilly is firing all guns so does Amma.

Long live cricketers, long live politicians..... long live IPL... long live democracy !!!!

Elections '09

so finally I write... after a long time... and after a long thought I decided to share my thought on the the current political fiasco in India...

time has come and we yet again face the Lok Sabha polls.. off late the coalitions has survived.. NDA started it and UPA followed from there on... but the question is will we ever see a single party at centre or ever go with the coalition government. This time the scenario is like never before.. starting from our current PM Dr. M S to LK Advani and others like Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mayawati, Sharad Pawar, Nitish Kumar, Jaya Lalitha, Mulayam Singh and many other stand a chance to become the PM of the country.

Well these politicians will come , do nothing and go but there are issues...a lot of them... while sipping over the morning tea, watching debate between Kapil Sibal and Arun Jaitley me and my secular room mates had a debate between us.. let me touch base on some of them

1. Should there be a retirement age of the politicians?

If you see a government employee the retirement age is 62 and then live on pensions after that if he/she gets it. But the people who run the government for us there is no age limit. Why over and over again we have leaders who are about to die because of old age. Shouldn't we have much younger leader. In this country where we have majority of the population below 35 we have leaders above 80. Souldn't there be a blend of youth and experience? Why one should be 25 to contest election if there is no retiring age?

2. Should there be candidates with criminal records?

Each and every political party in our is full of candidates with criminal records. Murders, rape, kidnapping and what not.... and we look to them to lead our country. No minister with criminal record be given a chance to contest election.

3. Reservation?

Big question, time and again it has come and will continue to come. Should there be reservations against cast and creed? Why a person who is in general category and below poverty line should suffer. Its a responsibility of each and every Indian to file their taxes and based on economic condition reserve the seats. Why a person with merit should suffer. Give a national identification number to each and every one and then decide. If there is no metric to decide reservation then why divide India and create vote banks.

4. Shouldn't there be a cap on spending for election campaigning?

I got the knowledge that each and every member of lok sabha are entitled to spend a sum of Twenty Five lakhs rupees for the election campaign. But looking at the current way of spending there seems to be no cap on spending. Yesterday in one of the movie channels Partner movie was sponsored by Indian National Congress. I guess there should be limit somewhere to create a level playing field. Shouldn't our election commission be more active and strong?

5. Reason to fight election?

While there are usual issues like poverty, jobs, agriculture, economy and so on... our leaders rather talking on this issues are taking dig at each other. The only way they think to win election is to beat the hell out of the opposition. No one during the ongoing campaign has talked about economy, infrastructure, taking India forward but played with the blame game as they ever did. Whom should we vote for and why?

Well there are numerous issue which can be discussed but the question will remain whether we are moving forward with this kind of politics or these leaders are just playing with us and thus putting our nation at stake.

Should we vote, if yes then for whom?
Who will resolve the security issues?
Who will bring the economic stability?
Who will construct rather than divide India?
Who will bring in inclusive growth?

Mumbai Blasts 26/11

Its been more than 50 days now that India have seen that carnage in Mumbai, the day famously known as 26/11, trend started by then the world leaders and probably still , the great states of America and ofcourse United.

This incident definitely brought some unity in Indians too, a unity against neighbors, a unity against terrorism, unity against dirt politics and its users, a unity among the funny Indian Political Parties (strangely). A unity which was missing for so long, which the blasts in parts of the country couldn't bring was here. Pakistan may have done bad things but certainly helped India in getting united.

With the elections closing by and a fear of conflict between India and Pakistan, I wonder what if our ministers take this step of war against Pakistan to gain a emotional mileage among its people. This can do wonders to their results in the upcoming elections, but also will put India atleast 10 years behind economically. But I do believe that India should go to war and why wait for the nod of other nations when they don't do. US attacked Afgan and Iraq by calling it a fight against terrorism and London came along with it. Israel have pounded Gaza so why should India wait. We are not dependent on US for our food nor will they help us if China attacks India. So why should India wait? If a war puts India 10 years behind others let it be, we have the capability to come back fast but should we allow them to kill more people, i don't think so.

Should India attack Pak?
